MoreLife Programme

How does the programme work?
At MoreLife we pride ourselves in delivering high quality, fun, flexible and ground-breaking weight management programmes for all. Our aim is to help individuals to live a healthier and happier lifestyle through education, support, and empowerment. We offer a guided 12-week digital weight management programme, our friendly team of experts will enable to you to lose weight and keep it off in the long-term. Our programme takes a psychologically informed approach to weight loss, which means we understand your individual needs and consider how your thoughts, feelings, habits, and past experiences may impact your weight. So, our programme will not only help you to develop and maintain healthy eating behaviours and physical activity behaviours, develop new skills, but it also looks at additional wellbeing topics such as self-care, sleep, and stress management.
How long is the programme?
The Managing My Weight programme lasts for 12-weeks. During this time we will provide you with the fundamental skills to live a healthier and happier lifestyle. However, we do provide on-going open access to the programme material and resources for a further 3 months, so you can revisit what you have learnt at any time.
What makes the programme different?
MoreLife was founded by Professor Paul Gately of Leeds Beckett University, one of the UK’s most respected experts in obesity and exercise. Morelife is also part of Leeds Beckett University, so our ideas and advice are always based on scientific evidence. Through this relationship with the University, we always have access to the latest research and continuously use it to improve our programme content. We have long understood that simply telling people what to do was not enough. What makes More Life different is our psychologically informed approach to weight loss. This means we understand your needs as an individual, addressing the roots cause of behaviour by tapping into how feelings, thoughts, emotions and past experience influence our choices.
How do I access the programme?
The programme is delivered online via a digital platform, so you can access it from the comfort of your own home. All the programme features can be easily accessed via a computer, laptop, mobile phone or tablet.
How do I sign up?
At MoreLife we would love to support all individuals who are looking to lose weight and better their lifestyle. However, we are commissioned by NHS England to support individuals who have been referred via their GP or a health professional. Therefore, if you would like to join our programme please speak to your GP or a health professional.
Who is suitable for the programme?
You must be over 18 have a BMI above 30 (or 27.5 in people of black African, African-Caribbean, and Asian origin) and a current diagnosis of either Diabetes and/or Hypertension.
I’m pregnant, is the programme suitable for me?
You cannot take part in this weight loss programme while pregnant. This is due to the different nutritional requirements to support the development and growth of a baby.
I’ve had bariatric surgery, is the programme suitable for me?
We do not recommend taking part in a weight loss programme if you have had any form of bariatric surgery in the last 2-years. This is due to the different nutritional requirements following the procedure.
I have an eating disorder, is the programme suitable for me?
Although, we would love to support all individuals who are looking to lose weight and better their lifestyle, eating disorders aren’t our expertise. For your long-term health and safety, you will need to focus on treating the disorder before joining our programme. If you believe you have symptoms of an eating disorder, we recommend contacting your GP for specialist treatment.

We offer a guided 12-week digital weight management programme. Our friendly team of experts will enable to you to lose weight and keep it off in the long-term. Our programme takes a psychologically informed approach to weight loss, which means we understand your individual needs and consider how your thoughts, feelings, habits, and past experiences may impact your weight. At Morelife we understand healthy living is about more than just weight. Our programme will not only help you to develop and maintain healthy eating and physical activity behaviours, it will also teach new skills, and cover additional wellbeing topics such as self-care, sleep, and stress management.

Weight

How much weight will I lose?
Everyone is different and weight loss results may vary for one individual to another. The programme has been designed to help you lose weight and keep it off in the long-term, we therefore aim to help you to lose 0.5 – 1kg (1-2lbs) a week. We also aim to help you achieve a weight loss goal of approximately 5-10% within 12-weeks and maintain this weight-loss.
Where do I log my weight?
To log your weight, click the “log weight” button, this should be in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your weight in either kilograms or lbs, to save click the log weight button. This will automatically up-date your weight on your personalised home screen and weight graph.
How often should I weigh myself?
You will be asked to input a new weight measurement every week.
What are Maintenance Calories?
The recommended amount of energy required to maintain your weight
Will my Maintenance calories change as I lose weight?
Yes, these numbers are personalised measurements. These will vary from individual to individual and are calculated based on factors such as your height, weight, body size and age. So, as you lose weight these numbers should up-date automatically.
What does BMI stand for?
BMI stands for body mass index. This is a measure that uses your height and weight to work out if you are a healthy weight for your height. Your BMI will be automatically calculated once you’ve inputted your height and weight. We want to support individuals who are above a healthy weight to make positive changes to their health and lifestyle. Although we recognise there are limitations to BMI, it is easy to obtain and provides us with a good indicator of body fat levels.

Nutrition and Lifestyle

What is covered in the programme?
The MoreLife programme covers a wide range of health-related topics such as: calorie awareness, mindfulness, emotional eating and physical activity. In addition, you will also look at wellbeing topics such as self-care, sleep, and stress management. There are also lots of helpful resources you can access to accompany our digital weight management programme including blogs, recipes, and exercise videos.
What support is available to me during the programme?
All our health coaches are registered dietitians, who are registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Your health coach’s main priority is to provide you with additional support to achieve your weight loss goals. Your health coach will be able to answer any questions you have. We also have a closed Facebook group through which registered Health and Care Professionals can provide guidance and motivation, as well as answer your questions. This group will also allow you to connect with others enrolled on the More Life programme, and serve as a valuable source of peer support as you progress through your weight loss journey. Please note not all individuals on the programme will have access to one of our health coaches.
I have specific dietary requirements (for example vegan, vegetarian, allergic to certain foods), is the programme suitable for me?
Our programmes are extremely flexible and can easily be adapted to meet your dietary preferences and requirements. If you have very specific dietary requirements or are unsure if the programme will be right for you, please speak to a member of our team or consult your GP.
I’m on a limited budget, is the programme suitable for me?
At MoreLife we believe all individuals should be able to access our programmes. Therefore, we won’t be recommending expensive foods or exercise equipment. Our programmes are extremely flexible and can be adapted to suit all budgets. You will also find additional resources such as low-cost recipes and blogs on how to shop wisely.
Do I have to exercise every day to see results?
No, our programmes are extremely flexible and can be adapted to meet your personal goals. We encourage you to increase your activity gradually and choose an activity that you enjoy and that fits into your lifestyle. You will also be able to access a range of activity videos such as yoga, dance, fitness, and strength building. These will also include varying levels (Level 1 – Beginner, Level 2 – Intermediate and Level 3 – Advanced).
Will I have to cook separate meals to my family?
No, the great thing about the programme is that all our information can be adapted to meet the needs of the whole family.
I often cook traditional meals, is the programme suitable for me?
Yes, we’ve helped a number of people from diverse communities who enjoy eating traditional cultural foods. Our programmes are extremely flexible and can be adapted to include your favourite traditional foods.

Do I need a smartphone to access the programme?
No, you can access our programme and all its features via a computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

I can’t remember my login details
Your username should be the e-mail address used to register your account.
What do I do if I forget my password or need to reset my password?
No problem. Just click the “forgotten password” button on the login page and enter your registered e-mail address. We will then e-mail you a reset password link that will allow you to choose a new password.

How do I contact the MoreLife team for help?
If you are unable to find the answer to your question from our FAQ page please contact our helpdesk by completing our “contact us form” which will then be sent directly to our help team. This is located as a white ? in an orange circle in bottom right corner of the screen. You will receive a notification to say we have received your help request and we will contact you as soon as we have reviewed your request.
How do I leave feedback?
We are continuously trying to improve our programmes, so we’d love to hear your thoughts. Please contact our helpdesk by completing a “contact us form." This is located bottom right corner of the screen and shown as white question mark in a orange circle.

Accessibility

English is not my first language. Is content in other languages available?
At MoreLife we want our programme to be as inclusive as possible. We have included a translation tool that allows our programme content to be translated into other languages. Simply click on the orange icon on top right of the page. This will open an orange bar with an icon that reads ‘Translate the page to a selected language’. Select this button and pick your preferred language from the drop-down menu. This will translate the text on the page into that language.
I find it difficult to read large amounts of text. Is there an option to have it audio described or enlarged?
Yes. All the content in our program can be read aloud or magnified. Simply click on the orange circle icon on the top right of the page. In the menu that drops down, press the play button for text to be read aloud. Text can also be enlarged as it is read aloud by selecting the magnifying glass icon and clicking on areas of text.
